Subfloor flattening and cleaning
High spots are sanded and dips are filled so the locking mechanism seats evenly along every seam rather than working loose over a hollow.
Moisture barrier over concrete
Any slab-on-grade or below-grade install gets a 6-mil poly or an equivalent barrier, overlapped and taped, to stop vapor reaching the core.
Underlayment selection and installation
Foam, felt or combination pad chosen for the level of the house and the sound performance the room needs — heavier pad where an upstairs bedroom sits over a living space.
Perimeter expansion gaps
A clearance of roughly a quarter inch at every wall, jamb, hearth and pipe, sized to the run length and hidden under base and shoe.
Transition breaks at doorways
T-molds where the run exceeds the manufacturer's maximum unbroken dimension, which is what stops a long hallway floor from binding against itself.
Staggered end-joint layout
End seams offset in a genuine random pattern rather than a repeating step, which is both stronger and far better looking under raking window light.
Undercutting casings and jambs
Doors and casings are undercut so planks slide underneath and the gap disappears, instead of being cut around with a visible scribe line.
Removal and disposal of the old floor
Carpet, pad, tack strip or existing laminate comes up and leaves with us the same day.

Matching nosing installed and fastened properly so the top step does not become the weak point.

How the Job Runs
- Step 1
Measure and plan the layout
We measure the rooms, check the subfloor, and plan the direction and the transition points on paper. Run direction usually follows the longest wall or the main light source, but doorway breaks and room dimensions can override that, and we will explain the reasoning rather than just doing it.
- Step 2
Prep and underlayment
Old flooring comes out, the deck is cleaned and flattened, and barrier and pad go down. This is typically a half day to a day on a normal Centennial project, and it is the stage where any soft plywood or slab issue gets corrected rather than covered.
- Step 3
Install, transitions and finish
Planks go down with staggered joints and proper clearance, T-molds set at the planned breaks, and base and shoe finish the edges. Most projects install in one to three days and the floor is walkable immediately. We walk it with you at the end and hand over the written labor warranty.

Cutting the gap short makes trim work easier and guarantees a peaked seam later. We size it to the actual run length, every time, and hide it under properly scribed base rather than leaving a caulk smear.

It is tempting to run a floor unbroken from the living room through to the back bedroom because it looks better in photos. Past a certain dimension it will bind, so we place the transition where the spec requires and choose a spot where it reads as deliberate.
Straight talk about where laminate does not belong
Full baths, laundry rooms and below-grade spaces with a moisture reading we do not like are LVP territory, not laminate. We will say so at the measurement instead of installing a floor we expect to fail.
